We met...again. FINALLY!

We made a sign. And we waited!

I am the worst at waiting. We got to the airport 45 minutes early. And I got teased about it...

 Ashley came running from a distance. You can see my dad in the background carrying all of her bags. It was the cutest reunion I have ever seen. She was excited, and then saw all of us and became a bit overwhelmed. She hugged us all.

Among my many favorite moments, wast this. See the very tall guy standing in the back, right in the center? That us Uncle Ernie. The beautiful people of Cambodia thought that he was President Monson when they saw him in pictures! So funny!

 Ashley arrived in Boise at 11:53 PM. It was late, and we (they) were so tired. They had been traveling for 24 hours, and lost 12 in the process. So, the next day our immediate family got together. And more importantly, Ashley met a new niece and nephew, and was reunited with Bris and Jeffie.

The "Queen of Play" is back and I am so glad. I feel so blessed to have her as a sister. She is a great one, and an even better person. Her mission was amazing. My heart aches because I know that she will be missed, and even more so because I know that she will miss the people of Cambodia. I know that her love for them runs so deep.

This is my all time favorite missionary. 
That is enough for one whole post. But that's not where I'm going with this one.


She comes home in April. I read an e-mail from her this morning. I think that she will have a really hard time leaving Cambodia. I don't even know if I'm ready for her to leave the amazing work that she has been doing. Wait, did I just say that? Ya, I did. She is doing such an amazing work, and I must say that she is really good at it.

My Sister-Missionary

You may know Ashley. Well, let me put it this way, you should all come to know Ashley. She is my second younger sister, and no words can quite describe the "life" she brings to the family. She is full of it, whimsical, spunky, and awesomely lovable.


She is in a rural town a little bit away from Pnom Phen, Cambodia serving a mission for our church. She has been there for one year and one month. She has gotten sick, had stitches put in her leg, dealt with some heat, and fallen in love with the people. As a brief update: she is doing AWESOME! I hear from her almost weekly via e-mail. It is one of the highlights of my week! Maybe I should include snip-its of her letters? Let me know if you are interested.

This is where I know she is supposed to be. However, that doesn't make it any easier for me here back at home. I miss that girl! She will come home April 2012. She may be looking forward to it, but when the time comes I'm sure she won't be quite ready to come home. I'll be ready and waitin'. I love ya Ash!

18 Months and Counting

My sister Ashley entered the MTC today. I can't believe it. Last night I said my "goodbyes," and then this morning she forgot something and came back. Argh. It's ok though, I got to snap one last picture, and she was so excited to get to Provo that I didn't even shed a tear (this morning I mean.) She will be in the MTC until 30 December 2010 where she will depart to Cambodia. She will be a great missionary. I know that everyone says that about their siblings serving missions, but she really will be.

Last night I was laying in bed thinking about how time is such a valuable gift. You can do so much with time, but in the same instant it flies by.

In 18 months my daughter will be 3 years old.

In 18 months my unborn son will be 14 months old.

In 18 months TyRell will be done with his masters program.

In 18 months I have no idea where we will be living or where Ty will be working.

In 18 months Ashley will be home from her mission.

A lot is going to happen and I know looking back it will seem like it flew by. But right now 18 months seems like FOREVER to say goodbye. The people of Cambodia are real lucky to have her. And as her Bishop put it at her farewell "Cambodia will never be the same after Ashley has been there."

My sister Ashley got her mission call!! She is going to serve the people of Cambodia! We are all so excited! I have never known anyone to serve there. We would love some information! If you know anything about that mission, feel free to let me know!
