Introducing: TYTAN JEFFREY STEVENS

Here he his. My little man!
The story of his entrance into this world is quite lengthy...lucky for you I don't have time to write the whole thing here, so I'll give you the most important details in a sweet and condensed version!
*7:30 AM check in to the hospital
*8:30 ish start pictocin...low dose so as not
to cause uterin rupture
(only 1% chance)
*8:45 Dr. O. breaks water
*9:30 most wanted man on labor and
delivery floor enters...the man
with the epidural needle!
*10:00 in the most EXRUCIATING
abdominal pain EVER. Everyone
thinks epidural not working
*5:00 PM Dr. O is informed and comes
rushing upstairs. His words
"C-Section...uterin rupturing"
*5:15 enter operating room...4 of
the 5 layers of uterus had been
torn apart, last layer paper thin
with holes in it (please say ouch
out loud for my sake...it hurt BAD)
*5:48 PM Tytan Jeffrey Stevens born
9lbs 15 oz (1 oz shy of 10 lbs) 21 1/2 inches long

Minutes after Tytan was born. And while he lay there he was smacking his lips the whole time!

Dr.'s nicknamed him "Bubba" in the O.R. because he was so big.

His feet barely fit on the paper!

Still hungry a few hours after birth. (He had already eaten once!)

First time home! Bristol loved him!

I could list a lot of things that upset me about the whole situation, but I won't. It is unbelievable that I'm the 1%, and I don't think about the alternative. However, I feel extremely blessed. I am recovering well, and I have a healthy baby boy! I am so grateful that my husband was there to hold my hand during the operation, that my mom was there to help me through the long "labor," and that I still have somewhat of a uterus!!!

The Verdict

Not to bore you, BUT...

Today at the Dr.'s office my blood pressure was high. SO Dr. O. said that "it's time for the baby to come out." He doesn't work Wednesdays, so I'm being induced on Thursday morning! (Who ever has their baby on their due date?) I know I know, you're not supposed to be induced after having a C-Section. However, I am one of the lucky few that had a C-Section because of a breached baby, and not another medical problem, so my chances of having a problem being induced are extremely slim. AND on top of that, he is going to give me pitocin at a really low level, lower than normal and monitor me very closely. I am just excited to be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel!

Now for my TO DO list before Thursday morning:
  • laundry
  • make sure my packed bag still has all of the essentials
  • re-charge camera/video camera
  • take it easy!!!!

Wish me luck!

What's In a Name?

Yes, we have decided on a name. Mr. asked if I "gave in" or if I really like it, and I think I really like it. Of course the middle name was the catch, but I do like it! Ready for it?
Tytan Jeffrey Stevens
Tytan is after my TyRell, Jeffrey is after my Dad and of course Stevens.
Haven't quite decided if I like "T.J." as a nickname. But I do see myself calling him "TyTy" or something. What do you think? (Don't be too honest...cuz it's not going to change based on your opinion...but please do tell!)
Side note: I came up with the name after meeting the cutest little Titan in Riverside, California while we were selling. I was prego with Bristol at the time, but loved the name. We changed the spelling of course, but what is even funnier is that this same family just had a baby girl that they named "Brystal." I'm only assuming that they pronounce it the same as our Bristol. Isn't that a funny coincidence? Just good taste in names I guess!
P.S. Thanks cousin Bailey for "not minding" I use your blog name for my title!!!
Now if he would just get here...

Gratification

There is something completely gratifying about watching your "kids" (husband and daughter) having a ton of fun in the snow. I just love it. I would have been out there myself, but squeezing into my coat just isn't quite possible these days. So, I made some quick cookies and hot chocolate. I did however step outside to snap these photos. I love it!

Grocery Store Etiquette: Taking the Initiative

Just in case you were wondering...I did it! I made it through the grocery store without any mishaps. I will admit that leaning over the little credit card swiper with a belly to grab heavy items was a little hard, but nothing got squished! I may feel a little bit guilty for completely ignoring and "mmhmm-ing" the bagger while I quickly grabbed everything I was worried about, but not guilty enough. I'll totally do it next week.
...Just in case you were wondering...

Blessed

Today my Mr. came home for lunch and automatically said "What's wrong?" I didn't laugh, but it didn't take me long to respond.
" Well, I'm moody, uncomfortable, fat, and still pregnant."
I don't take pregnancy photos, but trust me that my belly is HUGE. People tell me that I'm all belly, but there is a little elsewhere. Trust me. My feet and hands are water filled!
Anyway,
After giving my gruff response, I realized that I have a lot to be grateful for, and could use quite an attitude adjustment. Yes, I may be fat and still pregnant. However, I'm healthy, the baby is healthy, my little Bris is healthy and happy, and I have a wonderful Mr.
And who knows...maybe actually being grateful that I'm pregnant will make the little man want to make his world debut!

Little Lady

Last night Ty and I were looking at pictures from this last summer and realizing that our little Bris has become quite the little lady. I still call her my baby, and I don't think that I'll ever quit. But she sure isn't such a baby anymore!

I made some Valentine's cookies and let Bristol have a hand in the decorating. Wasn't as messy as I thought it would be! But I do believe that little missy enjoyed eating them even more. (Who doesn't though?)

Can you say imagination? Well, she's got it. The other night Mickey pooped. (Or should I say had a BM?) So, she got the diapers out and changed him. It was hilarious. I think that she will be quite the little helper when our little guy gets here!

Grocery Store Etiquette

I HATE grocery shopping. Who doesn't though right? Well, to make matters even worse are the circumstances under which I have been grocery shopping lately. Here is how it goes.
1. I grocery shop
2. I unload my full cart on the belt...all heavy items first and squishable items last
3. I nervously watch the bagger bag my groceries
4. I pay
5. I push my cart 2 feet and rearrange all of my bags because SOME HOW ALL OF THE HEAVY ITEMS were placed ON TOP of the squishable items. milk, soda, canned goods all on top of the bread, eggs, and fruit
6. I go to customer service because now my eggs are broken, juice boxes are leaking, and bread is squished
7. I wait...very impatiently...while the bagger runs around the store trying to find the items that got ruined
8. I make it home tired and hungry with an even crankier toddler
9. I unload my groceries and find even more ruined food

ARG!

SERIOUSLY!!!! There is nothing worse than having your groceries squished and ruined after buying them. Where I grew up, we were able to bag our own groceries. I seriously miss it. It is such a hassle to watch someone else handle my valuables. AND not only do i watch things get squished, but often the bagger has just finished wiping his snotty nose with his bare hands, and then proceeds to handly my food. YUCK!

So, what do I do?

I have no idea.

I don't want to change stores unless it's my last option, and I don't want to yell at the bagger.

So, what would you do?

Excited For...

Don't call me vain, but I am getting a bit excited for a few things...post-pregnancy!
Yes, I said it. POST-PREGNANCY!
No, I haven't had him yet, but I am sure ready to.
#1. The belly bandit
I don't know anyone who has used it, but I have read great reviews. If you know anything about the belly bandit or something like it, please fill me in!

#2. Using my new BOB jogging stroller!
Doesn't this look like so much fun!? I can't WAIT!!!

#3. And of course, fitting into all of my pre-pregnancy clothes. Hopefully.

I am so twitterpated about it all. I'm just praying that this little guy comes out all healthy, and that I continue to stay healthy so that life can go on! I know nothing usually happens the way you plan it out, but I'm hopin'.

Movies Movies Movies

I was thinking today on our drive home how very soon I am literally going to be house bound. When this new baby gets here it will still be flu season...and there won't be much going out! So, I need a good list of movies to see! These are a few that I have watched recently and have liked, and if you have any to add to the list of "must sees," please do fill me in!
Avatar
Inception
Secretariat
Despicable Me
Toy Story 3
Megamind

Birthdays and Bristolisms

Today for my birthday we went out to dinner and then ice cream at Charly's. So good! Bristol was being absolutely hilarious. She sure keeps us on our toes. Here is the scene:
In Charly's
Ty and I sitting in a booth, one other couple sitting adjacent to us eating their ice cream. Bristol was walking around trying to avoid putting her coat back on.
Bristol pointing to the other couple: "Ice cream. I want it."
Ty: "No. You can't have it."
Bristol: "I can't have it."
Ty picking up Bristol to leave: "Say bye bye."
Bristol: "Bye bye...ice cream."

She is so absolutely funny. Children are the best. I love Bris to pieces!

We're back!

You may be wondering where we have been in the blogging world.
Rest assured, I have been anxiously waiting getting a new battery
for the computer so I could update. It took forever, but here we are!
Here is our Christmas in a nutshell!
Christmas Eve:
So much fun! We spent the afternoon at Nana and Granddad
the Great's, and the evening with Great-Grandma and Grandpa.

Our little guy is already bound to be a Packers fan!

Of course the infamous P.J. picture. We missed having Ash,
but I think that the boys and their matching pajamas just about
made up for it. :)

Christmas morning was such a blast. How could it not be!?
Bristol really got into the opening of presents. She did take her
sweet time, but we loved watching her. She was spoiled rotten,
but loved playing in her kitchen, with her babies, and riding on
her "bicycle" as she calls it.

Enjoying the lights at Temple Square. It was really cold
but Bristol had a great time!

HAPPY NEW YEARS!!! For New Years Eve we went to some of
Ty's high school friend's house. We had great food, but even better
was the home made luge run in the back yard lit up with Christmas
lights. Bristol had a great time...even in the below zero conditions!

New Years Day was spent up in the mountains four wheeling and
sledding around a HUGE bon fire. Bristol didn't love the sledding
so much as the four wheeler. She didn't want off!

In loving memory of Brother Alyn Andrus.
What a great man who did much in this life,
and will surely do much more in the next.
You will be missed!
xoxoxo

Sorry no picture. Wish I had my own computer!

Christmas time is here...
Can't believe it! We wait impatiently for this day to come, and seriously
it's already almost over. Everyone always told me that as you get older
time goes by much faster. I didn'twant to believe them, and I'm still in denial!
Last night I told Ty that I never wanted to be pregnant over Christmas again.
There is just no way to fit all of the Christmas goodies into your belly when it's
already full. But then he said "It's either this or water ski season." Well, that
solved it! :)Seriously though, feeling like a beached whale during Christmas isn't
fun, however it givesme a little bit of insight to our beloved Mary who delivered
our Saviour in a manger. Unbelievable. Which brings me to the true meaning of
CHRISTmas. Each year our family participates in 2 manger scene reenactments.
I encourage you andyour families to do the same. I think it's a great idea to instill
in your children the valueof the true meaning of Christmas. Don't ever forget it!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

December 8, 2010

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree! And other winter adventures.

Here it is! One of my most favorite symbols of the Christmas season. How can you see a Christmas Tree and not be full of cheer?
Anyway, Ty cut this tree down in the Book Cliffs over the Thanksgiving Holiday. I think he did pretty well. However, when it comes to the decorating...
Lights: Look great
Ornaments: ...If you look closely you'll see a familiar
sight to anyone who has a toddler.
All of the decorations are at the top. It looks quite hilarious!

My mom sent Ashley a Christmas tree for her room in the MTC, so we made some home made ornaments to send her. I think they turned out pretty cute!

And of course my little Bris in her new winter coat. She is such a doll! And of course her "glubs," aka gloves. She just can't get enough of that snow. She eats it like it's candy.

The Stevens visit Canada

Dave and Teresa made a long drive to visit Ty, Bris and I while in Victoria. Unfortunately it was record breaking heat on the island...and we didn't have air conditioning! But we still had a great time.
We did a lot of blackberry picking and made some great blackberry jam. So good!

While Ty and Dave did some fishing, us girls headed to Butchart Gardens. We didn't last too long before having to get a cold treat. Bris loved the ice cream, but it didn't stay icy for too long! She was such a mess! Well worth it though!

Isn't that a sweet delivery of a kid's meal? We thought so! Complete with a "Gold Coin" and everything!

Their trip went by fast, but it was fun to have them! I was still pretty sick with the pregnancy and could hardly stay awake if I wasn't walking around, so it was nice to have energetic grandparents around to entertain Bristol!

December 5, 2010

The Baby Name Blues

Call me hormonal or in a bad mood...or whatever you want (G rated please), but I don't like ANY boy names right now. What's funny is the ones that Ty likes are names that I came up with before the pregnancy, but now hate. SERIOUSLY!!!
1. Tyton
2. Hunter
3. Porter
What do YOU think?
I can tell you what I think. I don't like them AT ALL!!!
And what's worse is I can't come up with any alternatives. So, here is where you come in. I need some fresh ideas! Any input would be great! My brain is beat!

Boise/McCall Part 2

I have been a terrible blogger lately. I just noticed today that I had a "Boise Part 1" forever ago, and never gave you "Part 2!" I'll just call it placenta brain... Anyway, here it is!
McCall is the BEST in the summer. My favorite place ever. We had a blast, and of course time went by way too fast. But here are a few of our daily activities!

Bristol and Grandpa driving the boat. She was very independant at doing so! Even tried out the throttle!

Early morning water skiing just can't be beat! And for 3 almost 4 months pregnant, not too bad!
Don't tell the Dr. He might get mad. I toook it easy though!

My parents have this huge tube that fits a ton of people on it. It's pretty fun! Our own little party bardge!

The two "little's" on the four wheeler.

Soon to come, "The Stevens visit Canada."

Lesson Learned

I used to be able to go to the grocery store with toddler in hand to get one or two items.
NEVER AGAIN!
Last night was a whole different story...AND I had Ty with me!
Bristol started out great, running along in between us holding both of our hands.
5 minutes later, she was laying in the middle of the isle on her back and screaming
"No! No!" When I tried to pick her up.
What has happened?
I'll tell ya...
THE TERRIBLE TWO'S!
I could hardly keep myself from laughing however, which I know is bad for discipline sakes. But it was hilarious! She wasn't trying to be bad really, just sick of walking. Her new coat is down with a slick shell, so she would run and then slide on her stomach before turning to her back. So funny. I did learn my lesson though.
Even if I only have a couple things to grab, GET A CART!
THE END

Halloween Fairy

I am dramatically behind on posting, and admit that the blog has been a little boring lately. Hopfully this will change...starting now!

Bristol loved this little stray kitten, unfortunately the next day we had to say goodbye to it...life is too short sometimes. Poor thing.

Bristol was a Halloween Fairy! She was so cute! These pictures scream personality, and she was full of it! (Thanks RyLee for shooting them!) We weren't planning on leaving Logan for Halloween, but the words "Bird Hunting" were spoken once to Ty, and off we went. We had a ton of fun. My Grandparents threw a party that we caught a part of before coming home, so last minute Ty and I thought up some costumes. Ty strapped a baby to his behind and went as a babysitter, and I sported the prego belly fish bowl. (Sorry, no pics.)

WHAT TO DO

...inside with an ACTIVE TODDLER?

Seriously!!! As a first time mom with a toddler, I have no idea how to keep either of us entertained when it is so cold and ugly outside. Any suggestions? I can only do so much baking and cleaning, and then its done! Then what do we do?

Right now I'm in a rutt. We are watching WAY TOO MUCH TV. It's terrible. Probably 3 or 4 hours worth a day. ( Which is a lot for us.) It's one thing if its cold outside and we can throw on coats and gloves and play outside. But it's another when it's cold, windy, and threatening to rain/snow any minute. Ahhhhhh!!!!

So, please leave a comment with any suggestions. And if you would like to have an indoor play date, please let me know. Cuz we would LOVE to!

18 Months and Counting

My sister Ashley entered the MTC today. I can't believe it. Last night I said my "goodbyes," and then this morning she forgot something and came back. Argh. It's ok though, I got to snap one last picture, and she was so excited to get to Provo that I didn't even shed a tear (this morning I mean.) She will be in the MTC until 30 December 2010 where she will depart to Cambodia. She will be a great missionary. I know that everyone says that about their siblings serving missions, but she really will be.

Bristol and Ashley 3 hours before entering the MTC

Last night I was laying in bed thinking about how time is such a valuable gift. You can do so much with time, but in the same instant it flies by.

In 18 months my daughter will be 3 years old.

In 18 months my unborn son will be 14 months old.

In 18 months TyRell will be done with his masters program.

In 18 months I have no idea where we will be living or where Ty will be working.

In 18 months Ashley will be home from her mission.
A lot is going to happen and I know looking back it will seem like it flew by. But right now 18 months seems like FOREVER to say goodbye. The people of Cambodia are real lucky to have her. And as her Bishop put it at her farewell "Cambodia will never be the same after Ashley has been there."

B.O.Y.

I'm gearing up for spiders, snakes, and puppy dogs because we are having a BOY! It came as a complete shock. Here's why...
After our accident I went to the ER to make sure everything was ok. During the ultra sound the lady kept saying "she" this and "there she is." I didn't really give any thought to it until I got home and realized that she was probably talking about the baby. SO, Ty and I were both ready to hear "GIRL" at my official ultra sound yesterday. Instead it went like this:
Ultra sound lady: "There's a good bum shot. What do you think it is?"
Me: "Girl"
Ty: "Boy"
USL: "Girl huh? Well, it's a BOY!"
Ty and I both just laughed. We weren't expecting it. Honestly though, during the beginning of my pregnancy I thought it was a boy, and then later on changed my mind. Poor little guy, how could I ever think him a girl?
It will be perfect! One of each right at the beginning! No pressure for the rest of my child bearing years!
And for a pregnancy update:
  • I have only gained 3 pounds!
  • blood pressure looks good so far
  • me and baby healthy
  • baby weighs 13 oz. He's big already!
